Day 10 - Equipping God’s People

Day 10 - A Sister of the Greats

Today’s Big Idea: Equipping God’s People

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:11

Passage of the Day: Ephesians 4:7-13

Thoughts to Consider: One of the primary roles we as Christians have is to identify our part in what is known as the Five (5) Fold Ministry. The word ‘Pastor’ only appears once in the New Testament. In this passage in Ephesians, we pastors share in the responsibility of leading God’s people. There are four other ministry gifts - apostles, prophets, evangelists, and teachers. So for the Body of Christ to fully function, it needs all five of its gifts to be effective. To identify your role is an important part of staying mission focused. It is not the sole responsibility of Pastors to build up the body of Christ. It is also yours! This takes place when we are equipped to do the work of an apostle, evangelist, prophet, and teacher. If you don’t feel you fit into one of these roles, that’s ok. You have a different role that will be discussed in tomorrows devotion. But if you find yourself in one of these five-fold ministry roles, then contact your local pastor and help them begin to equip God’s people to do the work, and do it well. Which leads us to the questions; If equipping God’s people for the work of ministry, how are your church leaders doing? Are you consciously and actively engaged in ministry, or do you leave it to the ‘professionals’? Do you feel well equipped? If so, then are you equipping others? If not, then have you asked to be equipped and in which role do you feel called?
