Day 3 - Motives Matter

Day 3 - Motives Matter

Today’s Big Idea: Consider your Motives

Key Verse: Psalm 24:3-4

Passage of the Day: Psalm 24

Thoughts to consider: When you own something, you get to say what happens with it. Psalm 24 establishes that everything - on this earth and in it - belongs to the Lord. That is why we need to consider our motives. We must remember that everything is God’s. We are merely stewards of His stuff. This is also why we should get to know His will. So we know what to do with His stuff.

In the Key verse, the “mountain of the Lord” and the “holy place” are references to the places where God’s presence dwelt in the Old Testament. Today, you and I are his mountain and holy place.

When we pray, serve, love, etc, we must do so with Clean Hands (right actions) and a pure heart (right motivations). These two things will invite the presence of God to be active in our lives, and in His Church. What do we want from our relationship with Him? Why do we want it? Most importantly, do our desires line up with the Greats from yesterday? Do they match what Christ desires for His church?
