Today’s Big Idea: Leaders under authority

Key Verse: Acts 14:13-15

Thoughts to consider: Leaders are not the end all be all. Every leader is under the authority of God, whether they know it or not. God performed such wonderful miracles through the ministry of Paul and Barnabas that in some towns the people treated them as gods. But Paul and Barnabas put a stop to it as soon as they realized what was happening. Then they returned to Antioch, from where they were commissioned, to report to the disciples who were in authority over them. It is an essential part of scripture that no church leader ever be the final authority. Not only should we not allow ourselves to be treated as gods, but we should all be under the authority of someone else. This is an essential aspect of the biblically humble leader. As you ponder your leadership role in your church, or even your community, are you willing to walk under authority as much as you are willing to be in authority?
