Today’s Big Idea: The Great Commission

Passage of the day: Matthew 28:16-20

Thoughts to consider: If the Great Commandment is to love others, then the Great Commission is the natural result of that love. When we love others, we want to share with them the greatest part of our lives with them, even if that makes life a little uncomfortable. The Great Commission is the only command of Jesus mentioned in all four Gospels and the books of Acts. When we are obeying the command, the commission can’t be ignored. Unfortunately, christians tend to get trapped in a place of comfort within their own people groups and forget to look outward at a world in need of Jesus. This is exactly the reason the Great Commission matters so much. Therefore, we must ask ourselves, How well are accomplishing the Great Commission in our lives? Are we obeying the command or just staying cozy in our own groups? What can we do to change our focus?
