Day 18: When a Culture Change Happens

Passage of the Day: Hebrews 10:22-25

Thoughts to consider: When we begin to see differences in our feelings and expectations, others will as well. Take a few moments today and reflect on those differences. For many, the differences will be significant. Still for others they may be small or maybe non-existent, and that is ok. When things do begin to change, others may notice even before we do. Note those times. Keep them written down somewhere and return to them when you feel like progress has stalled. It is when these changes in our culture, shifts in attitudes, and expectations get met that we have the opportunity to share with others. The writer of Hebrews says that our changes lead to others being changed in the same way. 

The word ‘spur’ is not always an easy word for people. It means that when others see us grow and change the culture, it may cause them to be uncomfortable. That is what ‘spurring’ often means. Others see us growing and it triggers them to want the same. And that is one of the amazing benefits of this process. You don’t have to shift the culture by ourselves. When we see change, others are motivated to the same.
