Day 75 - IYKYK (If You Know, You Know)

August 17th - Day 75: IYKYK (If You Know, You Know)

Today’s Big Idea: Act Like You Know

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Passage of the day: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20

Thoughts to consider: The attitude of Paul in todays passage is what gets me every time. “Don’t you realize…” he asks, as if he’s shocked that this isn’t obvious to his readers. Paul is not informing them that they are God’s temple, he’s reminding them of it and reprimanding them for not acting like temples should act - by honoring God with their bodies as well as their words. After all, God lives in us. That is the purpose of the temple after all, to be a dwelling place. We, as God’s people, are not our own. That means that our physical bodies are not ours to do with as we please. We serve the One who lives in us, and everything we do should honor Him. Paul lays out, in no uncertain terms, that we shouldn’t join our bodies with prostitutes, which was a problem in Corinth. This may not be your problem, but more than just brushing off this act, we should ask ourselves every day, “Is the way I’m treating my body the way I want to treat the home where a holy God lives?” If you know, then act like you know.
