Day 85 - Bigger Barns or Greater Plans
Week 13: Keep At It and Adjust
Day 85: Bigger Barns or Greater Plans
Today’s Big Idea: Being on our guard
Key Verse: Luke 12:15
Passage of the day: Luke 12:13-21
Thoughts to consider: Comedian George Carlin used to joke about “A place for my stuff.” That is what barns are all about; a place for your stuff. Ministry/Projects are not too much different if we are not careful. They can turn into “another thing to do.” As we spend time planning and preparing for the ministries, projects, and communities we are getting ready to reach for Jesus, make sure you remember the whole point of it all. What and Why are you about to work so hard? It’s easy to get caught up in the fun, work, and hype and forget that your ministry, project, or community is not just another thing to do. It is purposed by the Lord for His glory. The purpose of this devotional was not to get a bigger church (barn) or be better than another church. We don’t need more to do (bigger barns like in our reading), we need to use all the resources and passion to grow each of us as effective followers of Jesus and to serve others with greater effectiveness.
