Day 22 - Know Your Dirt
Week 4: The Culture Shift
This is where we will dig into the different soils from the previous week. If you have taken notes and assessed the culture you are a part of, in the home, at work, at church, etc…, then you will see how to cultivate the soil to go from unhealthy to healthy. For the next week, write down your thoughts about what needs to be changed, how serious that need is, and what initial steps might lead you there.
Day 22: Knowing your Dirt
Today’s Big Idea: It may be tempting to read all of the passages today, especially for you Busy Culture ppl. But this day is specific. Each set is divided into ‘buckets’. Don’t attempt to do all three. Find your bucket of Dirt, and get digging.
Key Verse For a Stubborn Culture - Ezekiel 36:26
Passage of the day: Ezekiel 36:24-28
Thoughts to consider: What hurts have you endured that caused this hardness? How severe are those hurts? What will it take to start softening hearts and earn trust again? Your heart and your spirit are connected. When you begin to soften your heart, your spirit will closely follow.
Key Verse For a Shallow Culture - James 1:22
Passage of the day: James 1:22-27
Thoughts to consider: What has caused you to only go so deep with God? Do you trust Him? What does it mean to be a ‘doer of the word’? Not only does it take discipline to read the Word daily, but it also takes even more focus and intentionality to be obedient to what you have read. What will it take to get you to stand up and follow through?
Key Verse For a Busy Culture - Matthew 11:28
Passage of the day: Matthew 11:2-30
Thoughts to consider: What caused you to get so busy? Is it hard to say ‘No’ to others? What is the division of labor in your culture and who carries the biggest load? How long are you going to be mad at those who are passive? What will it take to work smarter and reduce activities that are holding you hostage?
