Day 46 - Next to them…

Day 46: Nehemiah assigns positions on the wall
Today’s Big Idea: Next to them…
Key Verse: Nehemiah 3:9-10
Passage of the day: Nehemiah 3
Thoughts to consider: Nehemiah was called to rebuild the wall, but he knew he couldn’t do it himself. Every great effort needs a team. Yours may not be the team you expect. Jesus said He would build His church, and He knew who He needed, so He called them. And He knows who and what you need as well. The detailed list of repairs to the wall and the amount of people needed to complete the task is an amazing lesson in cooperation, sacrifice, and skill. Some worked close to home, while others came from far away tribes. The work was done whether rich or poor, leader or servant, men or women, priests or laity. Everyone helped. We see in our reading today, the amount of times the word “Next…” was used. ‘Next to them’ or ‘Next to him’ and even ‘Beside them’ shows that the work to be done cannot be done alone. There is someone with the same motivation, heart of compassion, and desire to see change that you have. Prayerfully seek them out. Don’t leave anyone out. It’s often the least likely people that do the greatest work. When you find them, ask them to be Next to you when you begin the work God has called you too.
